Dear Reader

I hope you are healthy and well. As the season blooms into spring here in Montreal, I have been thinking about hope; how to maintain it, how paradoxical it can feel to have it when we see increasing polarization, and binary either/or thinking online and off.

Again and again, I ground myself in the importance of relational skill-building in shifting workplace culture. More than ever, ALG's work is focusing on helping folks navigate differences across genders, background and opinions.

For those who are new to our work (hello thank you for following!), our approach goes further than traditional approaches to workplace respect and gender-based harassment prevention. Rather than checking boxes and emphasizing what not to do, we focus on what folks can do.

We equip teams with policies, training and tools to build a positive, consensual and respectful culture, with novel communication tools, for example, how to "call in" rather than just "call out" and non-violent communication.

As a progressive Jewish woman this work is personal, professional and political all at once. As ALG continues to bring a more human-centred (and trauma-informed) approach to dealing with issues of sexual harassment and discrimination, here are updates on what we been up to.

Speaking and workshops

1) Building a culture of respect at agents of change 2024​

Thank you to Electricity Human Resources Canada for inviting me to give the ALG Consulting flagship session Building a culture of respect at their DEI Agents of Change event 2024!

It was a joy to give this workshop to a cross-gender group of leaders and DEI champions from across the electricity sector.

2) Building collective and individual wellbeing as a sexual harassment prevention practitioner. ALG was honoured to deliver our building individual and collective wellbeing session to the Society of Gender Professionals sexual harassment circle.

3) ALG supports PSEAH assessment and planning​

ALG was proud to support Digna – the Canadian Centre of Expertise on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in a workshop for international aid organizations on the Digna PSEAH organizational assessment tool.

ALG has had the pleasure of partnering with Digna on tools and trainings on PSEAH for the aid and development sector, including how to receive disclosures/support survivors in a trauma-informed, survivor centred way.

1) Trauma-Proofing Corporate Culture and Work Environments with Adriana Leigh: Transforming Trauma Thank you to the Complex Trauma Training Centre for inviting me to speak.

We discuss my own journey towards healing and the ALG approach.

We talk all about why we focus less on changing bad behavior via punitive policies, and more on collaborating with our clients to create a culture of awareness and building relational capacity. You get to hear more about ALG 4rs approach so check it out and let us know what resonated!

Thank you to Lenses of Liberation for inviting me into this conversation. Consent is more than about intimate relationships; it applies to how we treat our colleagues every day, something so many of us need to learn!

3) Building a culture of respect podcast with HEC Résolument durable (in French, en français!)
Tune into this talk, where we discuss actionable tips and tools on how executive teams can build respect in increasingly polarized environments. As an ESG group, résolument durable and I put the emphasis on how building a culture of respect is tied to the S in ESG - building sustainable teams, organizations and communities.​

Celebrating a win! The manual on which ALG, UN Women and HRPA Georgia have been working since last year has finally come out!

It is the first UN Women’s Deep Dive into Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. It is a comprehensive resource for those who want to introduce and implement DEI, discrimination and harassment policies in their companies with practical steps and tips.
